Extended Car Warranty Comparison

By: Motor Easy
Expensive repairs bills are a thing of the past

At MotorEasy we expect you have seen all sorts of extended car warranty levels of cover from other providers. We like to make sure everything is as transparent as possible, in order to make your motoring easy.

There are three levels of cover depending on the age of your car, its mileage and how much you want to spend, Plan A, Plan B and Plan C, which are all also available with Plus or Lite versions.

  • Plan A your car needs to be under 5 years old and 60,000 miles.
  • Plan B your car needs to be under 10 years old and 100,000 miles.
  • Plan C your car needs to be under 12 years old and 120,000 miles.

What's included in our car warranty?

This ultimately depends on what plan you decide you want to take out. Our most comprehensive is Plan A Plus which includes cover for just about everything mechanical and electrical on your car, as well as a MOT and service. But, you can only buy this level of cover if your car is under 5 years old with less than 60,000 recorded miles at the time of taking out the plan.

Our Lite plans cover the same parts as the full plans, but under our Lite plans you have to be unable to continue your journey for you to have a valid claim for repairs. In other words, your car has to have broken down at the roadside due to a failure on a covered part and then to be taken to a garage by a recovery company. Now obviously a Lite plan is a lot more affordable than it's full cover counterpart, as with full cover all parts are covered even if you can still keep driving. Not that you should drive if you know a part has failed, of course.

We are also the first warranty provider to take advantage of telematics, with our fitC connected car warranty. As well as all the benefits of MotorEasy warranty cover, you get early notifications of parts about to fail, battery health, find your car if it is stolen or just lost in a car park and get driving advice to help you save fuel and make parts last longer.

 Why are MotorEasy warranties different?

All of our plans come with day 1 wear and tear cover, as long as you have had a free health check at your local MotorEasy vetted garage. This health check may sound daunting, but the price of warranties is on the rise as more fraudulent claims are made when people take out a warranty and instantly claim on a fault they know to be pre-exisiting.

Read about our health checks here

To save this from happening and keep the cost of our warranties as affordable as possible, we offer every car a free health check. Without it, you won't be able to claim for any wear and tear related repairs in the first 90 days and this simply isn't worth the risk.

The health check is just a quick one hour visual inspection of the car to make sure everything is working properly. If there are any parts found in need of repair, you can choose to have them repaired using our great trade savings and your wear and tear cover can start immediately, or exclude them from your covered items.

You can also take advantage of the free MotorEasy account, which will send you reminders when your tax, service and MOT are up for renewal and help you book them quickly and easily. You can also get quotes for all of our other products, such as breakdown cover and GAP Insurance. You can even keep all your motoring documents in one place, if you are prone to losing them, just scan and upload them.

 What voids your car warranty?

Some claims are just not covered by a car warranty provider, these items are generally called perishables and include things like tyres, brakes and lights. There are however other times when your claim might not be covered and there a few simple things to do to make sure you are not caught out.

Always make sure that repairs have been approved by our repairs team before signing off on any work on your car.

If you have Lite cover you will have broken-down at the side of the road for the claim to be covered.

If the fault is pre exisiting and found at the health check and not repaired, or deemed to be pre existing by our engineers when you take out the warranty, the claim won't be covered.

Finally if you decide not to have a health check you should note that wear and tear is not covered for 90 days, therefore any claim deemed to be wear and tear related, before the 90 days is up, will be declined.
